War 2003 Poem by MAXINE P. SOSO

War 2003

Rating: 2.7

War 2003,
positively infuriated me.
The casualties of the innocent.
Our troops
in the armed forces,
shot down in their prime
time after time.
For no reason at all,
our brothers and sisters had to fall
to the command of the war.
But, who was keeping the score?
They brought down the regime
at the time, so it seemed.
So, what did that mean?
The need to control unfold,
the untold stories
of how a war was won,
when it had only begun.
Since then, we have seen
countless casualties.
When they thought it was done
a new war had begun,
on a rampage to kill
just for the thrill,
suicide attacks,
lives we can't get back.
The debate to wait, or
anticipate an escape from reality.
The connections, no direction,
just confusion on a mission,
in transition.
The decisions that were made,
contemplating which steps to take.
initiated plans and demands
But, who had the upper hand?
So many years have past,
how long will this war last?
