Watch Over Me* Poem by Thistle Wargul

Watch Over Me*

I’ve cried so many times throughout my life,
You wouldn’t think I’d any tears to shed.
I’ve cried so hard, so long, so fast
In some-one else’s arms,
But never when you were around.

‘Cos I’m too scared to show you my vulnerability,
Too scared, you cannot see me cry,
Too scared, I cannot tell you why.
I’m too scared to ask for you help,
Too scared, I’m not strong enough,
But I need you here, to take away my pain.

I’m living my life behind a mask,
You cannot see, you do not understand me.
I know I’m powerful, I’m so much stronger
Than any one of you,
But there’s only so much I will take.

The pain I feel
Is a measure of the love I’m living,
A measure of how far I can go.
The pain is for,
The power and the passion,
And the dreams to lead me home.

So do not cry,
You know I’m watching over you,
Although I cannot shield you from the pain.
Do not despair,
The nightmare will be over soon,
The morning shall be sweet when you awake.

I’ve cried so many times throughout my life,
You wouldn’t think I’d any tears to shed.
I’ve cried so hard, so long, so fast
In some-one else’s arms,
But never when you were around.
