Watercolors Poem by Richard D Remler

Watercolors

............

I am very good with colors!
Yessirreebob!
Being good with colors
Is a most important job.

It is a gift
You rarely see,
When every color
Calls to me.

If I see blue,
I'll tell you so.
It's only right
That you should know

How very blue
Blue is, I think.
Unlessthat blue
Is really pink.

And if it's pink,
Why call it blue?
I wouldn't call
Blue pink, would you?

I'd call it pink,
Of course.You see,
Unless it just
Looked green to me.

And green is neither
Pink, nor blue.
To call green pink
Will never do.

I'd call it green
If it were so.
It just seems right
That you should know

How very green
Green is to me.
Unless it's yellow
As can be.

And if it's yellow,
Just why would you
Ever call it green,
Or blue?

It isn't blue.
It isn't green.
And to call it pink
Would be obscene,

And wrong in
Oh so many ways.
We don't call yellow
Pink these days.

I'd call it yellow,
I sure would.
I'd call it yellow
Like I should.

And I'd be clear,
As clear as day.
Unless that yellow
Was really gray.

Gray is neither
Green, nor blue.
I can surely tell,
Can't you?

Gray isn't Blue,
Or green, or pink.
What on earth
Would make you think

A pink and yellow
Were the same?
t'would be a rather
Tragic shame.

Yellow is its
Own reward.
Existing of its
Own accord,

A veritable diamond
In the rough,
Made from all
The finer stuff.

Unless of course,
In its own right,
It's nothing more
Than basic white.

Every color has
Its place.
And every hue
A subtle grace,

In that mosaic of
Our rainbow sky ~
Where watercolors
Never really dry.

Another Seussian poem. Theodor Seuss Geisel would approve, and applaud! : -)
