We Die Before We Die Poem by Austyne Thomas

We Die Before We Die

Rating: 5.0

Dont ax me not 2 speak of death
4 one day it surely wld come
& when finally that day it does
even mighty men shall fall.
Young & old & bold & new
it neva gives a clue
as much as it can, many or few
who knows it might be You.
The pain it brngs 2 those it meets
leaves us with cold feets
but yt u say dnt spk of it
as guilty with the blow it hits.
It takes some happiness & sorrows away
& most times leave a hole
but yt we c it com again
& still our hands we fold.
From thence we hear a deafening cry
a ma' has lost her child
& yet each day, with these fake smiles
we know we'ld someday die.
You see this life we live is a lie
I say this with a sigh
A life we know that death can buy
We die before we die.

I love the conclusion to your poem, 'We die before we die.' 'Though this may already be understood it comes across as profound and insightful. Nicely done...
