The excellent use of enjambment creates powerlessness of people in controlling their fates. Beside the political intent, I think the poem is worth appreciating with its great artistic value. (Report) Reply

Tight truth. I love it when a poet captures reality so compact. (Report) Reply

the poem is about kids who weren't in school, they were playing pool, so they seem rebellious and they might think their to cool for school. we lurk late we sing sin is just an example of what she thinks rebellious people do. jazzing(music) in june, because june is a nice month and that's when she saw the kids and made this peom. we die soon is just an example im goin to do all this bad stuff and be rebellious becsause we die soon, we might as well live it up since were going to die soon anyway. - hope this helped. look Gwendolyn brooks on youtube We Real Cool. The poem dares to tell the truth and the consequences that go with a decision. We real cool and the happy-go-lucky are one and the same thing, as in the poem. The words starkly rhyme and nice to the mouth. Thank you Madam Gwendolyn Brooks. A blessed day all! (Report) Reply

In my opinion I like this poem because it relates to modern day kids. The poem is all about a gang of youths and what they're doing. Also it shows some peoples take on to days teenagers. The poem is fast paced and it is really exciting. Overall I think this poem may not have much in terms of words but it is really effective. The poem shows some of the things the teenagers do in school hours and interest. (Report) Reply

In my opinion i think that the poet choose that poem because its very catchy and the poem rhyme. Anyone would like it and its gets into your mind easily. Its also a good poem because it uses a vary of stanzas and it uses we in every line. (Report) Reply

I liked this poem because it is nicely structured and it's not too long like another poems, The final line of 'we die soon' I think this means if you live a bad life you will die sooner than other people. The wrights of the stanzas are about what they are doing when they leave the school. (Report) Reply
