Weekend Beginnings - Poem by bob barci

This special weekend
has begun in the usual way.
The early, Saturday morning cartoons,
a variety show,
some coffee in bed,
some music to hear,
thinking about another day of you.
A shower to refresh myself.
The electric shaver and hairdryer
help to make me look human.
A clean set of clothes to wear.
An overnight bag stuffed to the hilt.
Ah! The mailman comes early for a change!
Phone call for a taxi.
Last minute check to make sure I've got everything.
With the arrival of the taxi,
a special weekend of you and friends has begun.
