What Becomes Of Him Poem by Sunitria Couser

What Becomes Of Him

what becomes of a man
when the children he created
learn that he is not the hero they dreamed
i wonder does he die slowly
or is he erased quickly from this earth
what becomes a man
when the strength that makes him strong
that makes him feel on top of the world
disapates
is he now too weak to stand next to thee
i look and see
what becomes a man everyday
when these things happen
they don't die quickly
they are hidden under the light
for all to see but no one dares to believe
they stand next to me and you
but we refuse to look at them divert your eyes
don't touch what they've become
we close our mouths when they are around
speak behind hands whisper hurried lines
and then walk away
what becomes of a man when no one cares
to ask to say that what changes need to be done
to keep our men from becoming a dying race
what becomes of a man when the woman he loves
dares not speak or stand by his side for better or worse
does not fight the battles does not care for the war he enrolled in
what becomes of him
i ask once again
what become of him
