What Brings Us Together? - Poem by Dr. Ahmed Gumaa Siddiek

We all feel
We all fear
We all see,
We all smell and hear
Be far or near
We all aspire
To get somewhere

We all drink,
we all eat
We all love and hate
It is our fate!

We all sleep and have dreams
Joyful dreams or awful dreams
Hollow dreams, they could be
And sometimes deep

Some dreams may come true,
Some may be deferred
And some may disappear
As mere dreams in the air

But we are all here,
Share, the same flesh,
spirit and soul,
We all:
Be colored,
White or black
Man or dame
Young you be or aged,
Short you be or tall
Smart you be or a mere fool! ! !
We are all,
One day, doomed to end somewhere! !

Mortality is our common fate,
And we are here just to wait,
But, friend, your question is still there! !

Beautiful philosophical piece of poetry, well articulated and insightfully penned with conviction. Indeed, what brings us together is the interrelatedness of reality. What affects one in one way or the other affects another. Thanks for sharing Ahmed. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON. (Report) Reply
