What Have I Walked Upon? - Poem by Eric Culberson
What have I walked upon?
They are the soft echoes of feeling
That glide along a situation
And dream during the night’s passing.
They travel lightly on a sleeve
Only to shift with a stranger’s word
And an exhale of emotion
Into that we wish to see.
Yes, I have left her alone
At the whim of a whistle
Iron covers the days exposed
Like gauze over a wound;
And friends make memories with gold
To replace unpolished silver
