What If It's True?

Rating: 3.2

Her days are mostly free and bright
As she tends her daily routine
Clean the house and walk the dog,
A few phone calls in between
But her nights are often lonely
She mostly tossed and turned
Denying her reality
And life’s lessons she has learned.
Nothing now…just a void
Where something always was
Someone close…to share her world
And do the things she does
So she imagines now…she’s not alone
A special person is near
To comfort her and keep her safe
Their identity is all but clear

Yet they are always there she knows
Wherever she goes and all she does
She feels them close, a hand to hold
Always beside her just because.
Is she lost in her nirvana?
Punch-drunk on fantasy?
Or has she stumbled onto something
Not meant for her to see?
More a crutch for her to lean upon
The source her strength came from
Her virtues few and far between
And faith was never one…
So she flies thru life without a hitch
Optimism and confidence
And if her heart could write a song,
It would sound so much like this

Her self-esteem…very high
While before…at best half -mast
Indecision and doubt now vanished
Like pieces of her past
Amazing…the sun now shines on her
Instead of in her eye
Her clouds all have silver linings
Always rainbows in her sky
She knows what to do and what to say
And when the time is right
The glass now always seems half full
And her burdens seem so light
Content in her Utopia
And the good fortune that it brings
The words are whispered in her ear
Like the karaoke that she sings

So she wonders how it can be so easy
She prays…and somebody hears
And her struggles go away…at least subside
With her anger…her malice…and her fears
Why did she wait to let Him in?
She’d been to His house and read His book
Accepted His Son…confessed her sins
Committed her life with the oaths she took
She looks back and remembers
When her life was her own
She turned her back...she ignored
And left Him all alone
Have you lived your life without regret?
Treated others as they should you?
Have you worshipped Him as best you could?
After all…what if it’s true?
