What If Tomorrow Never Comes - A Poem For My Best Friend - Poem by Tamara Moir

The day you asked me out
I simply said
'I shall think about it'
What a foolish mistake
You loved me
And I loved you
I should have just said yes
When you asked me that question
All I said was
'I shall think about it'
You said
'When will I get the answer'
I told you I'd tell you the next day
You simply turned away
Then you said
'What if tomorrow never comes'
Then you left
All that night I thought
Then finally
I said I'd say yes
I went to bed
Thinking all was well in the world
The next day
I got out of bed
Watched T.V
And saw that a man had died in a car crash
It was you...
For you
Tomorrow did not come
And now...
Whenever someone says
'I'll tell you tomorrow'
I say in return
'What if tomorrow never comes'
