What is a poet but a drunken fool-
a pitiful being that staggers through
local taverns, pathetic and mad,
muttering gibberish to the masses,
At least someone says the truth,
And sweeps the dirt
Under the carpet,
The last stanza says it all.
Thank you for correcting this embarrassing faux-pas. It removed my toothache.
Quite excellent in places. I can't help admiring its approach. Works for me.

I would say that a critic's English ought to be near perfect.
