When First I Saw You - Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery
When first I saw you, face intoxicating
I dreamed but did not think my dream would be
Flesh to flesh, lips to lips, love infinite.
But time played true my heart's desire
Walking with you through each passing day
My heart is seeded brightly flourishing
With love's flowers I never thought to see
Woven in a garland decking our hearts.
Your beauty entrances me to compose sonnets
Proclaiming the joy I have found in you
Voice, soft and lilting putting skylarks to shame
Echoing within my mind when I am alone
Whispers of your love, my own true soulmate
God bless the woman who gave you birth.
