When I Was Younger

When I was younger everything was so easy.
You play with your mates after school
Ride your bikes up and down the street
Play out in the dark til late Walk to the shop alone.
You have a crush on a boy
Hold hands and kiss.
You get pocket money
And a bag of sweets or an ice cream is all you need to cheer up.
You fall in the playground and graze your knee
The teacher could kiss it better.
Your favourite band splits up
And you innocently cry
You talk to your teddies
Sing songs in the bath
You dance silly with your dad
While your mum watches and laughs.

I'm glad I got to be a kid in the eighties and nineties
When things were much more simple.
Things were safe then
People enjoyed life
Respected and cared for each other.
I had a childhood
And thats one thing I'll always look back on and be grateful for
No matter how shit life is now.
