Why Are You Bothered - Poem by Herbert Nehrlich 2
Why Are You Bothered....?
My grandma always said to me
observe but let the people be,
if what they do is silly chaff
just have a yawn, perhaps a laugh
but hesitate not, dearest lad
if their shenanigans are bad,
and if you see a fellow's finger
point at another, like a stinger
then be assured the fellow's soul
has just been dragged across hot coal.
By which I mean, he lacks one feature
that is essential for each creature,
unhappiness makes petty hisses
it's caused by scarcity of kisses.
