Why I Stay Hidden Poem by Belle Wassermeister

Why I Stay Hidden

Rating: 4.8

My name is Richard Arthur Dean;
the initials spell out RAD.
I didn't choose the name myself;
just blame that on my dad.

I grew up as an Air Force brat;
we moved from place to place,
and did that ‘til my dad was killed
at Nellis Air Force Base.

My mom is on a pension now;
she wouldn't need to work
except that she supports me, too,
but don't think I'm a jerk.

An accident destroyed my life
when I was just a teen,
and I can not hold down a job;
my likeness can't be seen!

My face would scare a goblin off,
and werewolves would just flee
if they should get the briefest glimpse
of any part of me!

So I just hide and hibernate
and use the internet
and never show my face around
and try hard to forget.

You fool us around....! ! Once you were Jungle Cat, later you were Linda Bella Wesser meister ! So you change not only names, but your gender too! What's your real identity? However you are a humorous guy!

I don't know what of this is true. Do you read David Welch? I think that's his name. His poems seem autobiographical but they are not, so I ask- to what extent is this true. It moves brilliantly, has a lot of witty charm and rhyme, but is how it ends true? If so, you have great will power and I respect your candid stregth and resolve.
