Why The War? - Poem by Jeffrey Evans

Why the war, why the pain?
So much to lose, so little to gain,
The loves we lose, the lives they lost,
We've gained some ground but at what cost.
People get hurt for a cause they believe,
They listen to some, to the lies that deceive.
They go rushing forward, they often get hurt,
Bleedin and dying, crushed in the dirt.
So somebody tell me, what does it gain?
Why the war, why the pain?
