Wind Chill - Poem by Kelly Kurt

Eleven days ago, short sleeves, in the seventies
Sunshine and sweat while raking
Grass still green, marigolds a fiery orange
Moon lit night, comfortable to explore
Today’s trip to take out trash
Anything but routine
Crusty snow crunches and collapses
Swallowing ankles with a scrape
Northwest wind divests thermal layers
Single digits seem sub-zero
Exposed skin blushes blue
Brrrr!

    You wish
There are always rules about poetry. But first you must entertain which you do very well here.
This is a disciplined piece which could only be written after a lot of observation and thought. Oops my goofy mask slipped. Sometimes I speak as an elderly person.

**Thanks, Wes. I do try to put a lot of thought into what I write. I know you aren't a fan of non-rhyming stuff. And it sounded like a wise person of any age

Brrrrrr! The transition is swift in the Midwest! The NW wind does surely divest the thermal layers. Nice written. Thanks Kelly! (Report) Reply

Thank you my friend. I did one better. Today I built an 8 foot tall snowman. My back kind of hurts but I had fun

That is one of the great things about poetry. No real rules as long as it resonates.
