With All Due Resistance - Poem by Lonely Soule

You can't seriously expect me to succumb to your demands
Not one time was my opinion seeked in this matter
At least not until it was too late to matter

Now you know how I feel but you don't give a damn
What was the point in asking me in the first place
When you knew it wouldn't change your mind

So you've put your foot down like you always do
And said whether I like it or not, it's your way
So I just sit in the corner and obey you like a dog

However, if you'd just sit and listen to me,
if my opinion was important to you,
You'd know why I have an attitude with you

With all due resistance,
I plan on going nowhere with you
If I go anywhere with you, it will be to court to file for divorce

With all due resistance,
I'm not your pet, you can't boss me around and control my life
Unless I get to do the same with yours

With all due resistance,
You are free to go where you want, when you want
As long as you leave me free to be
