Wrenching - Poem by uche peter umez

Among the lucid stretch of stars
a silver crescent

its warmth filtering into the room
tenderly around me
like your embrace

Now sprawled on the couch
alcohol caressing
my head
my thoughts

I stare and stare out the window
drunken dreams mark my days

I remember the song of your voice
the glow of your smile
the fire of your fingers
the wine of your lips

and passions swell
wanton waves
in my heart

but a stray breeze
a soft rustle of drapes

answer my longings...
