You! - Poem by Esther Mukabi

A whisper in the night, a pure bright light
Filled my head, sent my senses reeling,
Left me weakened, kneeling
My heart pounding, words resounding
My heart, my soul, yielding control
To this sensation, this thrilling creation,
A merging, a blending of essence
A simple acquiescence
Oneness, unity, heartfelt opportunity
To love, to live, to have, to give
To blend, to become, to unite and be one
A hesitation, an abrubt cessation
The moment forsaken, an aberration
Lust and logic collide, the moment denied
Shadows slip away, fade to grey
Reason remains, drapes the soul in chains
Safe. Free from sins, responsibility wins.
