You Are Like A City - Poem by Susan K. Davenport

You are like a city
I want to visit
But cannot afford to live there.
Your warm, quiet ways
Remind me of the beach,
The powerful but calming sea,
Seagulls circling overhead.
Your arms wrapped around me
Are the hotel walls that keep me safe.
I send postcards,
Sharing memories
Of my time with you.
When it is time to leave
I reluctantly go.
I take a photograph
Of this last moment,
To savor
Until I visit you again.
