You Had It All - Poem by jjlJaoisio jjdjdj

You had it all
Firmly in you grasp
You gave it all up
You weren’t up to the task
I now know
Who’s behind the mask
You think you’re mighty
In glory you bask
But not so fast

My ship is not sinking
Not even capsized
Nothing is ruined
Especially my life
You think I am hurting
And going through strife
You did not twist the dagger
You did not stab the knife
No sting, no bite

Still, though, I wonder
What’s in your mind
To give up your love
Someone you pined
I tried to love you
I walked the line
You abused my soul
You abused my mind
Like bitter wine

Our wonderful bond
Or so I thought
Was one of a kind
The pick of the lot
Our love, my dear,
Could not be bought
You threw it away
Could not be caught
Are you being taught?

Have you learned your lesson
From this forlorn fable?
My enemy, my foe
You’ve earned the label
I’m dropping your rope
I’m cutting the cable
The offer, forgiveness,
Is not on the table
I am not able
