You'Ve Been - Poem by Laura Dunne

I give you a hug
and i open the door
i can't watch you go
i try to smile
as you pass
but a tear still fall
and you brush it away

you've been
there for me to cry on
you've been
the one i could talk to
you've been the greatest
part of my life

after you're gone
i don't know
how i'll go on
why did you have to go
if the tears i've cried
covered up the lies
i would be okay

you were
there for me to cry on
you were
the one i could talk to
and you were
the greatest part of my life

if the trust still exists
maybe that final kiss
wouldn't be our last
and i know for a fact
you went behind my back
fed me all this crap

you weren't
there for me to cry on
you weren't
the one i could talk to
but you were
the greatest
part of my life
