Your New Year Resolution Poem by Francis Duggan

Your New Year Resolution

What's your New Year's resolution for the year two thousand and four
Do you aim to be happy or make a million dollars or more
Or do you just wish to be that bit more financially secure
In their New Year's resolution who would wish for to be poor?

Or do you wish to travel to places far away
And visit great Asian cities such as Tokyo or Bombay
Or maybe visit Europe or the U S of A
Or watch the lions in the Serengeti in Africa doze in the heat of the day?

A New Year's resolution some never even make
And though they wish for better things they fear that they might break
The promise they made to themselves and their resolution fail to keep
Some even feel self promises should not be taken cheap.

Whatever your New Year resolution may all of your dreams come true
And in the year of two thousand and four may good things happen for you
And what more can anyone wish for you than health and wealth and joy
And may you only know happiness as the year goes by.
