Zz 141 The Soul Is Genderless - Poem by Edward Wright Haile
The soul is genderless. A violin,
the purveyor, the vehicle expresser,
and out of depths no deeper the confessor,
is neither masculine nor feminine.
That’s all the proof I need that it exists.
Since everything corporeal is either
and everything celestial is neither,
it is our comet from eternal mists.
The spectrum of existence has a line,
I think, that dark to westward shows the great
duality of bodies and their fate;
and other streaks beside it that define
the battle of the sexes as a race
to occupy a single human space.
