My Oncologist is subtle
he will gently tell the truth
No matter your condition
he will swing like old babe Ruth

He has never seen a cancer
that was too strong for him
He will battle to the finish
to save a life or limb

He will inject the poisons
that should make the cancer die
But if it lives another day
I’ll be going to the sky

This cancer is a vicious thing
it strikes at any age
Nobody knows what caused it
or what will be its gage

But if you are still smoking
it is not the thing to do
You are tempting that old cancer
to be the death of you

Well if you keep on smoking
what will your future be?
Just pick another cancer stick
from off the cancer tree

You may think that you’re hard done by
cause you have to smoke outside
But think about your love ones
who hope on earth they may abide

I threw away my cigarettes
some thirty years ago
Was still too late to close the gate
now cancer’s laid me low

I only could stop smoking
for one day at a time
But day by day the urge grew less
the hill was easier to climb

But if I had not stopped smoking
at the age of forty four
I would be dead and buried
now have a few years more

I know it’s true the same as you
that cancer may not strike
But if you abuse your lungs some more
you and I will be alike

So roll the dice but it’s not nice
when your coffins being lowered
You’re craving for just one last drag
before the earth’s put ore it
