Behind That Mask
She enters the room her gaze wandering, searching.
She spots him.
She watches him.
She watches them.
Behind that mask.
She crumples with complete heartbreak.
Her breaths come out as harsh sobs, each one more painful than the other.
She cries so hard, her body racks with shudders.
She hugs herself to retain what warmth was remaining.
She feels so cold. So lonely. So alone.
She watches him laughing at her jokes.
She watches the way they seem to trip over each other with words, a smile here, and a chuckle there.
