Are we no more than mere puppets
Remote controlled by the secret strings of fate?
Or are we just a passing eyewitness
Watching a puppetry show being staged?
Life seems dependent on planets and stars
That has already cast our lot,
Destiny seems to set a bar
A hurdle unbridgeable by the best of efforts.
But have we not seen people
Navigate cheerfully unhindered by fate?
Surdas and Milton wrote to create ripples
Though their worldly visions had barricaded gates.

I stood by the very edge of the cliff
For my heart was impaled with grief
My eyes stared at the wide chasm in disbelief
At the world below that slipped away like an illusive dream.
It was then that I saw a rainbow in the distant sky
And from this disastrous height I could upon a thought pry
Will it not be cowardice to hush-up and say goodbye?
I turned back to embrace the nebulous reality unseen.
