The Red Flower

Red flowers
Significantly
Not blue
Mark the
Graves
A symbol
I take it
In timeless
Remembrance
To honour
The brave
Who stood
True
To their beliefs
And lie now
Bones and teeth
Below ground
Where
The flowers grew

Trees

I have planted many
And, for a while,
Watched them grow,
Inch by inch,
Like children,
Tended by a mixture
Of nurture and nature,
Rain and shine;
Each has thrived
