'We're all of us children in a vast kindergarten trying to spell God's name with the wrong alphabet blocks.'

- Edwin Arlington Robinson

'Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality. But, of course, only those who have personality and emotions know what it means to want to escape from these things.'

- T.S. Eliot

How Can I Not?

How can I not understand what
Eyes are seeing, ears are hearing,
Lips are saying? Fog never lifting.
Part of the way the carriage stops. The

Marks on the path are fading. Who
Ever thought these blinders could be blinding?
