Illusions

The grass is always greener on the knoll across the way.
The sea is always bluer in the far sweep of the bay.
The moon gives cause to wonder as it brightens up the night.
Your life reveals its meaning as you walk towards the light.

The road may seem unbending as you trudge towards your goal.
The workload seems unending as you give your heart and soul.
The dreams you strive so hard for may change from day to day.
So don't glance back look straight ahead, you'll surely find the way.

The things that are worth having you will find don't cost a lot.

Our Birdbath

Outside our lounge window stands a birdbath I made,
And every morning I can now watch charades.

Birds line the rail of a moss-covered fence,
Impatiently waiting their turn to commence.

Blackbirds the big boys they take centre stage,
They plunge and preen while the little guys rage.
