First received Honorable Mention in THE WRITER (SEP 1954) for the poem WHEN I DIE. Won HONORABLE MENTION from the Baton Rouge Playwriting Contest on May 1959 as 'one of 242 entries' with only nine finalists. Play: LOVE IS A WILD PLANT, was subsequently written as a first novel entitled THE NARROWBACKS (1964) , Withdrawn after Alfred Knopf rejected it. Now available unchanged except for a one-page introduction.Subsequently, wrote a children's novel THE RANSOM OF PAMMY SMITH (1974) , now entitled THE RANSOM OF SAMMY SMITH (2012) with small changes. 'Sammy' refers to Samantha. Available.
