Thumping and pounding
Against the walls
Of the Embankment.

Rushing out then returning
To lash
With angry vigour.

All your waves
A frenzy of turbulence.

Eddying and swirling
When
One free-flowing wave
Is forced
Inside the belly
Of the other;

While some rush out again
To bash their heads
On the high rise,
And explode
In fritters
On the stony front.

Dear River Thames,
You should do
Something about this.

Lobby, get your waves
To raise a voice,
Sue in a court of law –
Or get Parliament
