But now I realize
Perhaps too late

In the early morning sunlight
In the green of the park
A small poem of hope
After such great despair

Waiting in the long loneliness
Of the too long lonely day
For my wife to return
Alone with the rain outside

I don't feel like a poem
I am sick tired spiritless

But shouldn't there be a poem

Small simple poems
Of little lines
Sustained by troubled
Inner rhymes
...

A poet got lost in his own poetry
And could not find his way out
Instead he went deeper and deeper
Into the world of his own self- reflection-

When my soul was sad
I saw a few more ancient than me singing together
A song of courage and defiance-
They would be happy even if ridiculous to others

AFTER SEVENTY YEARS IN THIS WORLD

After seventy years in this world
An old man satisfied in some ways with what he has done-

I have done so much
And it amounts to so little
I add and add
And each work added

They were here
And now they are not here
For almost twenty years
Neighbors strangers
