Short sleeves become sweaters, and frost becomes foe
as it embraces our windows, in a milky lace glow.
A ruckus of noise, anticipation fills the air
as birds make their plans to vacation elsewhere.
While squirrels and chipmunks busily prepare,
hoarding their stores, as if none were to spare.
Awakening from slumber, in the darkness of night.
