Biography of Susan Crowe

Susan Crowe poet

Proud of my Southern heritage and strong women forebears, I am a wife and mother of two daughters and grandmother of three. I enjoy the outdoors, music, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

My favorite pastime is composing nature poems, specifically, personifying flowers into darling maidens. I draw my truest inspiration from the spiritual, poetic passages of the Song of Solomon, my favorite book of the bible. Updates

Winter's Malady (Sonnet)

Frail Winter has soon taken to her bed
where stricken with a malady for days,
to sip her bitter tea with sorrow's bread,
her gown of rime now weathered as she prays.

The requiem is sung; no warmth remains
as icy shards of nightfall closes in
and darkness spreads like poison in her veins,
as slow and stealthy as a hidden sin.
