One time I saw something rare. It was a
I had found it in a field, alone, by itself.
I watched it for 10 years, until I was older.
I would put my head down next to it, eye
level, and watch it breathe.
I would put my hand upon it and feel it
expand and release.
I never picked it up.
After I had moved away, I visited it once
and kissed it.
The Small Ankle
He looked again toward the sky
It was blackened by a greenish glow-
Legs raised in tribulation of the
Distant whistling from the grass-land-
while curtains blew,
Chipped porcelein sink still stained.
His glazed eyes traced along this void....
