Letter To My Grandpa
Your last six cigarettes
remain in my drawer, waiting
for their customized wood frame.
I took over your garden,
it continues to bloom.
The avocados and guavas
are bigger than the grapefruits,
and the raspberries magically came back
even though you removed the root.
Sometimes I think
that you replanted a root
because you know I love them.
Now that you can’t,
I take my Grandma to the farmer’s market
and spoil her just like you did.
