Biography of Talmadge Beavan
I love to write about all kinds of things, but most of my poems are about relationships or spiritual matters. I am really a scientist who gained a love of literature later in life. I like to express quite complicated ideas in a few lines. A poem often expresses as much as a book. I have studied foreign languages and I gained my certificate in English as far back as 1987. I was never much good at poems at school, but I think perhaps it is due to lack of trying. I hope you enjoy my verse as much as I like writing them.
Talmadge Beavan Poems
I have searched for love, Only to find hatred. I searched for acceptance, Only to find prejudice.
Man And His Rib
The first couple Adam and Eve, God designed and made, But to eat from the tree of good and evil, He most certainly for them forbade.
A person full of love, People held him dear, Blessed from God above, Angels applaud and begin to cheer.
A Tale Of Two Brothers
Abel was a righteous man, Who attended sheep, He loved his God in all his heart, Which made him rather sweet.
In The Beginning
In the beginning of the Heavens and the Earth, Things proved to be a desolate waste, So the imagination of the creator gave birth, According to his very good taste.
Evening Primrose Oil
In wait for her he lay, The snake, which tempted Eve, In a very cunning way, The poor woman was deceived.
When The Chips Are Down
When the chips are down, We all begin to frown. We chill and mellow in the pub, And talk of times when things were up.
One remembers the days gone past, When affection laid its grasp, A beautiful melancholic mood, In distress had one wooed.
Lament Des Herzes
Mein armes kaputtes Herz, Liegt voll mit schwarzen Schmerz, Es singt ein leidenliches Lament, Ueberem vergangenen Moment,
The Eve Of Pain
Like an old red on a warm summer's eve, this old flicker from deep within. A sparkle from the cool cellar to tingle the palate. She glows in the sunshine and puts color on the cheeks and a deep warmth throughout the soul as the heart beats a mellow sympathetic rhythm. Nostalgia throbs smiles of moist reminiscence on pursed lips. Pounding firmly and gasping for the soft moment to steady her pain. She is youth, love and beauty combined in one unhappy trinity. She feels as eternal as surely badness ought not to prevail. The beams of warming radiance kissing the unblemished skin. An enthusiasm and delights as vivid as the seed of ones youth. Age brings out the maturity of wisdom as I clasp my hands to the hollow of the pit of my stomach as tingles spread through my limbs.
As one thinks of a distant darling, In the quiet moment in which the heart does speak, In silent moments where angels break forth and sing, The lost moments where sorrow does weep,
With darkness she does speak, Words from which to run, Anxiety at its very peak, As harsh as the dessert sun.
Lament Des Herzes
Mein armes kaputtes Herz,
Liegt voll mit schwarzen Schmerz,
Es singt ein leidenliches Lament,
Ueberem vergangenen Moment,
Zeit nimmt mir bei der Hand,
Duch das fremdes Land,
Das herz hat sich verlaufen,
Eine Laus is ueberem Leber gelaufen,
Ein tiefes schmerzhaftes Gefuehl,
