Thomas Fitzgerald Poems
As black flags ruffled, And mothers prayed, One hundred candles were lit, With his life he paid,
A stare of blindness, A touch of prayer, A cast of silence, You’re no longer there,
To a man a child is a child, It lives, it breathes, and it dies, It does not conquer, It does not change,
The Colour Blood.
His skin soft his hair short, His muscles defined his name tort, Her nails ling her lashes curled, Her eyes sparkling singing her world,
Flames and crosses, That burns the soul, Didn’t come from that black hole, Knives and blades,
As wild winds blow, The flesh is blue, A raindropp fallen, The season is now new.
Flames and crosses,
That burns the soul,
Didn’t come from that black hole,
Knives and blades,
To cut and scar,
Didn’t come from afar,
Ropes and chains to buckle and tie,
Didn’t come from that black sky,
Goodnight my friend,
To sleep and dream,
Tomorrow won’t come,
As it did seem.
