Biography of W. Blaine Wheeler
I am a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Arkansas. I have lived, worked, and travelled extensively in the Middle East, eastern and western Europe, and Mexico. I lived for several years in Cyrenaica where I wrote The Ptolmeda Elegies which will be published by Oxford University Press. I spent nine summers in the Yucatan where I studied the Mayan language, culture, and civilization. I wrote The Canticles of the Maya which was published in 2014 (available on Amazon.com; Kindle; and Nook) . I am currently completing a collection of poetry, The Moment I Saw You.
After marrying a lovely British doctor in London, we moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where we have resided for 35 years. We have a daughter - also a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Arkansas - who works for the U.S.State Department. We have a son who is a PhD R&D laser scientist.
