Daniel Brown Poems

1.

I am someone being no one,
A singular purpose of vision brought me here,
I have flayed away the surface,
Self-inflicted torture to leave myself behind,
...

Here we are,
Back in the land of the living...
Grey and materialistic,
Unraveled by the depth of the dead,
...

Built upon my broken back,
Upon a broken shore.
Stretching out beyond the sea,
And past the open door.
...

4.

Stuck inside a shell,
Transmutated memories of living in a waking hell...
I left you all behind,
Or maybe i got lost inside the forest,
...

More bad news today…
Nothing more to say,
Nothing more to do but look for a clue…
How to cure such a sickness?
...

What i sought to see and did not know,
Echos of betrayal framed in red and yellow afterglow.

Embers fall from crested waves of apocalypse,
...

7.

The events as they occurred,
Distinctions made between the clarity of vision when it doubled from a singleness of purpose into non-sequential blurs.

Tried to make it clearer through the chaos of the once more two way mirror,
...

Of course i have seen the writing on the wall,
The intertwining interest in the symmetry of pitfalls.
Piquing interest,
Peering thoughts,
...

I will never belong to you, again...
I'm not sure I ever did,
But I know you're under my skin,
Constantly seeping deeper,
...

10.

What makes a clock work?
The ticking of the hands,
Moving of the time,
Forward, never backward,
...

11.

If I could I'd just remove you,
Pull you from my mind,
Kill the dreams and the illusion,
All the moments left behind...
...

Made a promise to myself i couldn't keep,
A doubtful disposition,
And a thought left on repeat...
I turned away with time again to tell
...

God, break down the door
And find the resting dead,
Set upon the burning altar
Burnt to ash...
...

Romanticized roboticism,
Looking for a way to find...
An exit from the long decay,
Of tunnels burrowed through my mind.
...

An inch to move you forward,
A foot to drag you back,
Distance measured,
Lost and gained,
...

As I pondered this pious position,
Of peeling back the skin,
Revealing bone and tendons,
A bare heart and organs in...
...

17.

Something happened in the corner of my eye,
Like something I remembered from the corner of my mind...
Barely caught, but I'm reminded of the time,
Of recollections framed in passing past mistakes,
...

Sometimes I think,
there's a part of me so broken,
That it's beyond repair.
A section built from atrophy,
...

Pondering my strength of vision,
Questioning my outward, awkward, lack of state in my position...
Between the buried and the dead...
Existential questions,
...

Cutting flesh to bone,
The pain a warm embracing hug,
A distant memory of home...
In spite of what's been said,
...

Empty out the vessel....
Scrape away the piece of mind...
