Love At First Sight? Poem by Blessing Kalamatila

If eyes were compasses guiding us through, And love a map unfolding before our view, What then is love at first sight?
If the heart was made to beat for another at first glance, would I be wrong to call you naive?

If it took the cross to unveil love's depth, Wouldn't it be absurd to die for one you just met?
Because feelings and actions are only parallel, how did the universe come up with this notion?

Been fighting with this for days on end, could I be the problem? Am I the one with a broken lens or do you see this differently? If so, make it make sense, because you looking at him and falling so deep is but a feeling which love isn't. You looking at her, envisioning a wife, is but nothing short of foolishness which love isn't. Presence over presents, for love cannot be bought, Patience over pretty faces, as beauty's fade is sought?

Is sight even a factor to consider? For love, they say, wears a blindfold, Yet we gaze upon beauty's surface, Ignoring the depths beneath, untold.' So what good is it to fall for someone When the mind, like a shallow stream, only reflects, Casting aside imperfections unseen, In favor of superficial aspects.

Is there love at first sight?
If so, it's no wonder we prioritize fleeting joy over lasting peace, Preferring the allure of attraction when true connection comes with ease.
It almost feels like culture reflects that which I don't agree, if we are to mirror Christs love then you will agree that no condition will affect what I choose to see.
You see the intention is what we need to question because how do we claim to arrive at love when that is a journey and not a destination.
