Finding My Way Back
Or
A poem for Baltimore Safe Haven
Case Manager Melissa Deveraux
It was the dawn of the day when I realized
That the tear-stained face and bloodshot eyes
Staring back in the mirror at me wasn't a disguise… I had to find my way back.
I called my sister for help, and with all her love, she sobbed and she cried. I told her it was okay, but I lied. I hung up the phone and asked the Lord, why Lord, why. Surely, common sense I did not lack…I had to find my way back.
Oh, the many a sleepless night, God was near but watched me and the devil fight. Almost defeated but with all my might, I refused to get off track…I had to find my way back.
My dear Melissa, tell me where did you hide your wings? For when I was rescued from despair, I heard an angel's voice sing.
"Girl, you've overcome many things;
Hold my hand,
Until you find your way back.
thank you sis
