The Purpose Of Dreams

It is not that time
Or sands falling
Keep us anchored to the world
Or that dreams
Might have purpose beyond our will
Or that tears
Do not wash away our hurt

Such is the mystery infinite
Of our blood, dreams
And DNA

Such is the simplicity
Of a raindrop
That tastes of magic
Whose caress whispers
Life
Whose dance thrills us to the bone
(Yet still we do not join in)

Such is the miracle of blackbird
Who with one song
Can heal our soul
And inspire our day
Even under the darkest of heavens

How an occasion
Or encounter not planned
Can change the colour of our mood
Perhaps the course of our life
Make of nothing
Everything
Perhaps
Shake us from our discontent
So that each moment
Becomes
And is savoured
Embraced as a gift
Each breath a miracle

Any moment of the millions
We come to know
Might unveil the universe
Or allow us vision to within
Revealing both our beauty
And our truth
And that of a world
We have yet to imagine.
