Gratitude

Born as a charcoal,
Your tender touch gave me a life!
I came out of darkness,
To savor the light.

A lavish shirt and a blue cap I wore,
With little penny left in your pocket...
But love galore!

Holding your fingers,
I plodded on with belief and pluck.
The warmth of your fist assured me,
To be your son was my only luck!

In wintery nights...
I sought warmth in your chest,
And to curtain my sleep,
You subdued to wheeze at your best.

A glee on your face showed me the way,
Life was never a bed of roses for you...
But you always kept my sorrows at bay!

Sweat rolling down your neck made me stronger,
I understood the boundless sense of pain and hunger.
On your shoulders I foresaw my dream,
As my vision converged into a gleam.

Accept my gift to celebrate your affection,
With my paltry words and meager perfection.
Oh my father!
In return grant me a wish...
Bless me to be your son till the end of creations!
