When I had the dream
you were standing beside me
on top of a mountain
we looked down through the glen

I photographed myself
and scanned it into my computer
answering all the questions
to give me an I.Q.

From downtrodden alley we sat on the stairs
of the tenement buildings that led to nowhere
and we watched as the gangsters, the pimps, and the tramps
handed bribes to the coppers without any thanks
...

Am I here and is this real
Is this the way I'm meant to feel
People sometimes look at me
Am I what they really see
...

Moonbeams trickle from the sky
and shelter in my lover's eyes
that spark around like fireflies
igniting what I see
...

I have to have a holiday
I need to have a break
the housework and the gardening
are making my neck ache
...

There's no knowing what tomorrow brings
or what the autumn, winter, springs,
We only know youths twilight glow
and memories of long ago
...
