Half-moon earth-colours;
striated, humble, secret,
making the log proud.

Morning sun honours
a bright red shongololo
tickling a fallen log.

Have you any idea of how silly you look
sitting on that broken chair
on top of a wobbly kitchen table?
A throne it will never be.

Face the lion
and relax in the strength
of the paws
and claws
...

You can herald
or eclipse
the dawn
of anyone’s day.
