A Loved One Lost

As I walk down the steps,
I wonder,
why am I going home early,
today.
When I reach the landing,
I hear,
the painful news,
the loss
of my great grandfather.
I rush out,
tears streaming down,
trapped
in a world of shock,
as I digest
the news.
My mom
tries to comfort me.
She tells me it's okay.
She tells me,
he wasn't entirely gone
because he would always
be with me,
in my heart
but it is no use.
For the rest of the day,
I mope,
cry,
sob,
thinking about the memories,
the times
I had spent with him.
The relaxing moments,
out in the sun
tanning ourselves.
The humor
to our conversations.
All is lost
So quickly...
